An exceptional museum quality rare double woven painted Kwakiutl ceremonial rain hat dating from the late 1800’s. Finely and precisely woven with split cedar bark and natural dyed bear grasses in red, black, blue and white. The hat is in very good condition with no repairs or splits noted. A top shelf one of a kind, it doesn’t get any better! Worthy of any museum or great collection. The imagery is rare and imaginative and features a whale and copper crest images painted in vermillion, green and black pigments.
