A very fine early Northwest Coast Nuu-chah-nulth lidded basket circa 1900. Very finely woven ( approx 24 stitches per/inch) from split cedar bark and natural dyed bear grasses to produce the stunning intricate designs that encircle the lid and periphery. The designs features ducks and hunting canoes with hunters in each. Rare shape rectangular knob top. Note the perfect precise stitches the work of a master weaver.
