Rare Pair of Matched Yupik Chugiak Eskimo Inlaid feast Bowls Circa 1850

$8,500 USD

We are proud to offer this extremely rare matched pair of Chugiak Eskimo large inlaid wooden ceremonial inlaid feast bowls dating from the early to mid 1800’s. The bowls are graceful and elegantly shaped with precise incised liens and diamond shaped bone inlays. Nice dark oily patina from years of native use. Hard to believe this pair of bowls has remained together for the last 150+ years. Shadow of the painted zoomorphic designs can almost be made out underneath the oil layer. Large size measuring 14″ x 10″ x 3 2/3″ and the second slightly smaller at 13″ x 9″ x 3 3/4″ high. Both come with heavy duty museum quality display stands. These are museum quality pieces worthy of the finest collection. I would possibly separate and sell individually if one preferred.
