A wonderful old Northwest Coast model totem pole featuring great expressive imagery and old crackled paints. The totem features a Thunderbird, diving whale and Komokwa ( king of the sea representation) at the base. Great inscription on the back reads “Dedicated to my Tillicum Vancouver BC May 1930 A Thompson” . Some old repairs to the wings and fin noted and the original base is missing typical of old totems). Great classic totem most likely carved by a member of the Cowichan Tribe, the word “tiilicum ” means good friend in the Northwest Indian language. This rare totem will make a great addition to anyone’s collection.
