A large impressive fully imbricated Western Washington Salish Indian fully imbricated hard burden basket dating from the 1800’s. The basket would originate from one of the Puguet sound tribes either the Cowlitz, Nisqually or Yakima valley tribes .Finely woven from split cedar root and the striking fully imbricated designs from bear grass and horsetail root. Remnants of old toe skin ties remain. Very nice original condition with no repairs or breaks noted. This museum quality basket will make a fine addition to anyone’s collection.
