Alvin Adkins is a Haida artist, born in Prince Rupert, BC January 1959 to a talented family of artists. Both of his brothers, Rick and James are other well known jewelers. Alvin was self-taught, and works in a variety of mediums – wood, argillite, prints, and of course, gold and silver jewelry. He takes inspiration from Dempsey Bob (Tahltan/Tlingit), Freda Diesing (Haida), Bill Reid (Haida), Robert Davidson (Haida), and Don Yeomans (Haida). His work has been recognized by the BC Government, and in 2010 he received the Creative Achievement Award for Aboriginal Art. His work has also been displayed at the Museum of Northern BC, in Prince Rupert.
