Provenance: Axel Rasmussen collection, De-accessioned Denver Art Museum,  Charles and Francis Rief collection Vancouver, Seahawk Auctions lot # 201 Jun8-9,2002.

A rare early Haida shamans amulet dating from the mid 1800’s. Carved from antler or bone the image depicts a Euro American captain or sailor. These type of figures appeared on early Haida pipes and individual figures done in argillite.
