A fine rare Haida or Tsimshian Hawkman mask dating from the late 1800’s. Probably a shamanic or child’s mask. Very small holes in the eyes would have enabled the wearer to see while preforming. Beautifully decorated with abalone and subtle black pigments. Provenance. Mr. Robert Nichol a award winning director and cinematographer , who was given the mask in Hazelton BC by James Houston around 1964. This museum quality mask will make a fine addition to anyone’s collection.
