A finely woven Northwest Coast Salish Thompson River small child’s burden berry basket dating from the very early 1900’s. Finely and even woven from split cedar bark and root and the striking imbricated design executed in natural and dyed black bear grasses and red cherry bark. The design features four geometric blocks with descending slashes of alternating colors. The basket is in excellent condition for its age with a nice aged patina that one loves to see in old basketry. The basket displays very well and will make a fine addition to anyone’s collection.
