Artist: Paul Jones (1847-1929) originally from the village of Tanu then settled in Skidegate.
Date: Circa1890-1900.

Description: Attributed to Haida artist Paul Jones whose distinct carving style makes his works easy to identify with certainty. This fine early pole has nice tall size with nice proportions throughout. It features deeply well carved imagery with each creature nicely delineated from one another. The totem features a bear with a salmon hanging out of his mouth, a frog and seated beaver holding a chew stick at the bottom. The totem is in excellent original condition and will make an excellent display item and fine addition to anyone’s collection.
