Greg (White) Lightbown has been carving argillite for over forty years. In his youth, he worked with celebrated argillite carvers, Pat Dixon and Pat McGuire. He prides himself in carving traditional pieces with strong ties to his Haida heritage. Greg comes from a lineage of strong Haida artists, including his great grandfather, Charles Edenshaw. He has been a mentor to a variety of artists over the years, including his son, Gryn White, a well-known Haida Argillite carver. Greg has been included in numerous publications including Indian Artists at Work (1976) by Uli Stelzer, and Argillite (1980) by Leslie Drew and Doug Wilson
